  3rd INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF BUDDHIST HERITAGE OF LADAKH (24th - 31st August, 2014)
In continuation of MIMC’s successful ethico-spiritual programs of International Yoga & Meditation Festival-2011, MIMC organized ‘International Festival of Buddhist Heritage of Ladakh 2012’ in collaboration with the Nava Nalanda Maha Vihara (a deemed University based in Nalanda, Bihar) and Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. It was the first ever International Festival of Buddhist Heritage of Ladakh in Sep 2012, with the mission to show case rich heritage of Buddhist culture in Ladakh and create a platform for art exhibitions, meditation, literary exchanges, yoga, and discourses/seminars on the cultural traditions of Ladakh, cultural events and films screening dedicated to or drawing inspiration from Buddhism. The Festival was inaugurated by the Honorable Governor of Bihar, His Excellency Shri Devanand Konwar wherein a galaxy of eminent delegates from Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA and Thailand participated with much fervor and enthusiasm. To commemorate this festival as an annual feature, MIMC in collaboration with Nav Nalanda Maha Vihara had decided to organize the 2nd International Festival of Buddhist Heritage of Ladakh from 16 to 18 Sep 2013, as was unanimously resolved by the delegates in the 2012 festival. Key features of last two editions of International Festival of Buddhist Heritage of Ladakh: 1. Exhibition of the Ladakhi ethnic culture. 2. Seminar, talks, meditation session & yoga 3. Ladakhi cultural show i.e. mask dance ‘Chham’ by monks of Hemis monastery etc. 4. International cultural performance by troupe from Nepal, Malaysia & Sri Lanka. 5. Exclusive heritage tour to Ancient Buddhist Monasteries in Ladakh for delegates. 6. Screening of International Films drawing inspiration from Buddhism. Public Response & expected response: Last two editions of “International Festival of Buddhist Heritage of Ladakh” have received positive response from tourists and eminent personalities. There were several leaders and delegates from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Germany, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, USA, Australia, Thailand, Italy and Myanmar.

  Presidential Commendation Award
Venerable Sanghasena Mahanayaka Thera, was one among the 27 Bhikkhus from different countries around the world to have been conferred with the “Presidential Commendation Award “by the President of Srilanka Mahinda Rajapaksa on the occasion of the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanti in Sri Lanka. / The award was conferred to him for his outstanding humanitarian work, selfless service to humanity and spirituality and dedicating his life for the welfare of the downtrodden especially the people of Ladakh through the humanitarian welfare activities of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh, Ladakh. / We the administrative staff, students and residents of the MIMC, deeply appreciate and rejoice the tribute for the gesture in recognition of significant contributions towards the welfare of sentient beings, promoting universal peace, coexistence and harmony.

  World Buddhist Outstanding Award-2014
Most Ven. Lama Lobsang, General Secretary International Buddhist Confederation and President Ashoka Mission and most Ven. Sanghasena, Founder President Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre received the prestigious “World Buddhist Outstanding Award-2014” organized by the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) and The National Office of Buddhism, Thailand, on the 15th of February 2014 at the sacred place, Buddhamonthol, Thailand. The award was presented by the acting Supreme Patriarch (Sangharaja) and the President of Supreme Sangha Council of Thailand, H.H.Somdetphramaharatchmangkhlachan, in the august presence of many international dignitaries including prominent Buddhist Master, Scholars, and Leaders and eminent guests from around the world. The award signifies the righteous and admirable lives of the recipients and commemorates their exemplary and life-long devotion towards the happiness and wellbeing of humanity through spiritual and humanitarian services.

All the prominent religious leaders, eminent spiritual masters, distinguished politicians and respected social leaders had gathered to share their timeless wisdom and radiate the boundless warmth of their shared compassion for the benefit of all. Many guests from abroad as well as many parts of India were present besides large number of Ladakhi families and students studying in Delhi. The program started with the lighting of the holy lamp by the Chief Guest together with prominent religious leaders followed by devotional prayer for world peace by venerable monks from Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos. The documentary film on Mahabodhi ‘Monk Dreams’ which received 1st Place Humanitarian My Hero Award at 10th Annual International Film Festival, Los Angelis, USA in humanitarian category. Ven. Sanghasena spoke on the occasion and elaborated the importance and purpose of the organizing the Mahakaruna Day Celebration in New Delhi. Today's world afflicted with revenge, intolerance and brutal killings of the innocent, the voice and teachings of the Buddha especially Mahakaruna are needed more than ever. It alone can facilitate the changes that are required to create a truly peaceful and harmonious existence for all.
