Mahabodhi has been organizing Mobile Medical Camps in many remote villages since 1993. The remote and inaccessible villages in the villages in between high mountains in Ladakh have inadequate health care service delivery. Moreover in the nomadic population in the Changthang area, static health posts are irrelevant, because of the constant moving nature of the population from pasture to pasture. A mobile health clinic is therefore the only practical means of providing medical services for these villages.
The mobile health clinic is a fully equipped bus – sized ambulance that brings modern medical services regularly to the villages. The clinic also undertakes preventive medical measures and health education. The medical team renders social service by distributing clothing, blankets and other necessities. Emergency financial assistance, whenever possible, is offer to the needy. Such mobile health clinics are extremely popular and the villages eagerly await the arrival of the clinic
